Members of the Family Fun group enjoyed a spooky Halloween party. We had arts and crafts, dressing up and scary tattoos were done by the parents. We had a beautiful banquet which was mostly donated by the families.
It was lovely to see so many people attend our AGM in October. The raffle went well raising £155. Big thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and donated prizes. Our manager, Lynn was recognised for her contribution to the community by having her name on the Ribbon Sculpture in Leeds city centre. She was among nearly 400 inspirational women past and present from Leeds. Pat and Christine were also on the sculpture representing South Leeds with Lynn.
We were surprised to have won two first and two third certificates this year at the Great Middleton Park Show. We nearly closed the allotment due to lack of volunteers but at the last minute, Claire stepped in to help.
During the school holidays we enjoyed our summer trips. We went to Cleethorpes in July and Scarborough and Bridlington in August. We played on the beach and even managed to have a paddle in the sea!
One of our members, Claire Millington, started a new allotment group for families with the aim of helping with mental health issues. She was successful in receiving a small sparks grant to help set up. Over 20 adults and children attended.
Councillor Shaf Ali presented Glen at Cardinal Court with the 26th Small Sparks funding cheque. This money will help to brighten up the entrance at Cardinal Court for visitors and residents.
We attended the learning disability awards at the Marriott hotel to celebrate the amazing award winners making this a lovely end to learning disability week.
On learning disability week carers joined the council chambers takeover day in Leeds and then participated in the learning disability pride march through Leeds from the Civic Hall to the market place.
